Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and creative Mold Designer/ Tooling Design Engineer to lead the design and development of molds for our expanding range of plastic products. This individual will play a key role in driving innovation, ensuring high-quality production, and supporting our growth into larger, more complex products. CNC machining experience is essential to ensure seamless integration of mold design and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop molds for injection molding, structural foam molding, and other processes as needed for the production of pallets and future product lines.
- Collaborate with the product development team to create innovative and efficient mold designs that meet performance, quality, and cost requirements.
- Perform mold flow analysis and other simulations to ensure optimal performance and manufacturability.
- Oversee the fabrication, testing, and troubleshooting of new molds to ensure they meet design specifications.
- Utilize CNC machining to produce, modify, or repair mold components and ensure precision and efficiency in mold fabrication.
- Provide technical expertise on tooling materials, mold maintenance, and repair to maximize mold life and productivity.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers and production teams to integrate new molds into production lines and optimize output.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, materials, and mold design technologies to continuously improve processes.
- Participate in the development of larger, high-material-volume products as the company grows and diversifies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience designing molds for injection molding, structural foam molding, or related processes.
- Hands-on CNC machining experience, including programming and operating CNC equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Experience with mold flow analysis and simulation software (e.g., Moldex3D, Autodesk Moldflow).
- Strong understanding of plastic materials and their behavior during the molding process.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in sustainable manufacturing or recycling industries is helpful.
- Experience designing molds for large-scale or high-material-volume products.
- Knowledge of automation and robotics integration in molding processes.
